Life is a Journey

On this journey there will be times where you encounter challenges or obstacles, face crossroads, suffer loss and grief — all of which can prevent you from enjoying life and functioning effectively.

These may look something like this:

Deep sadness (maybe depression)
Anxiety or worry
Searching for life’s meaning or purpose
Questions about yourself – “Why am I always…?”
Questions about others – “Why do they always…?”
Loss of a loved one (grief)
Relationship breakdown or boundary issues
Feeling angry a lot
Difficulty communicating effectively
Wanting to set goals but unsure where to start
Feeling stressed
Life-changing events (injury, disability, job loss)
Low self-esteem or self-worth
“Who am I?”
Feeling hopeless or wanting a new beginning

Sometimes we can handle these challenges on our own. At other times we need someone to help and support us. I will connect and walk with you on this journey, providing professional help in a safe and confidential environment for you to explore “where to next”, discover your goals, and reach them in your timing, in a way that suits you.

Who I Am & How I Work

I am married with two adult boys and passionate about counselling and helping others realise their potential in life and relationships. Life happens to all of us and sometimes circumstances arise that we cannot handle alone. Emotions can overwhelm.

I hold a Bachelor of Counselling and a Diploma in Health and Human Development. I am a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (MNZAC) and work strictly under their professional and ethical guidelines. I have worked with various agencies, ACC Sensitive Claims, and currently see EAP clients.

I work in a way that suits you, drawing on different counselling modalities. The counselling relationship is paramount to my work. I practice in a holistic, respectful and non-judgemental manner, honouring all cultures and personal beliefs.

I have a personal faith in God and understand the importance of spirituality. I am also sensitive to the needs and experiences of those living with hearing impairments or related conditions.

Adults and older adults.

Fees

Sessions are generally one hour (unless by prior agreement).

$100 per session

WINZ funding options may be available.

At our initial session we will discuss how many sessions may be helpful, depending on what you would like to work on.
